What i got at Black Friday.
My store: Best Buy (in Canoga Park [Los Angeles] in front of the Fallbrook mall)
Time arrived: 11:40ish Wednesday 21. I was supposed to get there on Thursday at 6:00 am but plans were changed.
Position in line: #4 -8 (i had 3 other people with me.)
Weather was freezing at night.. around 30-40 degrees (thats freezing for us Los Angeles people) and hot hot hot sun during the day. Unofficial list was being signed, i though it would be a waste of time since the same list was done the 2 previous years and was never used, but it came extremely in handy at 2 am. People were standing by the parking lot trying to rush in... which was ridiculous since the store didn't open until 3 hours later.
Hell broke loose at around 2am when the people in line around the corner experienced some sort of paranormal event in which everyone behind them mysteriously cut in front of them producing a huge lump in the line and caused much screaming and yelling. Of course, this didn't affect the first 80 people in line (especially me). The yelling and screaming continued... some blonde woman came to the front to try to speak to the manager and let him know how those unfair cuters wouldn't go to their spots but he didn't do much. Around 20min later the lady who made the unofficial list talked to the manager which resulted in him asking the first ones in line if it was legit, we all said yes so he decided to use it (thank you lady!). We lined up on the other side of the store in the order we were shown on the list. The vouchers were finally passed out to only us, which was about 80 in line and not to the remaining 100ish people on the other side of the store). As usual i got additional vouchers to sell, something many frown upon but considering the hell and effort (and time) i was there i felt no regret.
The store limit of 15 Sony VAIOs for $400 was feared but they had a lot of extras for it. The extra vouches didn't mater much because of some stupid psychotic white bitch who jinxed my day and followed me and the other 3 people i had gone there with because i wouldn't give her a voucher.. first she wanted a free one, then she offered only $20 for the Sony VAIO voucher.. crazy bitch. She kept bothering my dad and he called her crazy so she complained to a Best Buy worker and the workers kept a really strong presence around us and other people selling them because of her dumb ass so we only sold 2 vouchers. Maybe immigration will be at her door soon and take her ass back to Yugoslavia. I sold one to some generous guy who offered me $100 for the Sony VAIO and a man who offered $400 for the $230 Toshiba Laptop and printer bundle. He only offered $400 for the laptop and printer (already bought) but we ended up only getting $100 after he saw the many vouchers we had. So, in all, $200 for 2 vouchers is good. We finished our shopping in less than an hour (finished paying for the Sony VAIO, Toshiba laptop bundle and $200 Desktop) but the line reached all the way back to the appliance section of the store. I do feel bad for the people that had been in line since 7pm Thursday and lost their spots to those idiots who cut in line. They got security to stop the line on that side of the store from barging in. My side of the line got in first, very nice headstart. In fact, i felt so bad that there was a Jamaican lady who was there early but did not sign the list and all she wanted was the Sony VAIO voucher, i talked to her and let her know she could complain and write a letter to Best Buy. I gave her one of my vouchers for the laptop and she was really thankful, i'm glad i ran into her. Best Buy needs to do something next year, this crap happens every year. Is it that hard to hand out bracelets to people as they get there?... or maybe an official list.. seriously. The cops that were called weren't of much help, idiots never are, good for nothing corrupt police force in this country. Thank you to all those hardworking Best Buy employees who helped everything flow smoothly... for the "good" side of the line and the "bad".
